Spectacled caiman. Corcovado National Park. Costa Rica
Caimans, smaller than American crocodiles, are also less dangerous than the latter. Although you must be cautious with them, they do not usually attack humans.
This photograph was taken almost night, at dawn, inside the jungle of Corcovado National Park, in Costa Rica. I was looking for small amphibians
with the aid of a torch. With my boots fully submerged in water, my guide warned me that at a couple of meters there was a gator, in the same small swamp in which we were staying. I could not resist the temptation to shoot a photo at the caiman before leaving the water.
