Dos Cocorite. The Dos Cocorite snake or bird eater snake (Pseustes poecilonotus) owes its name precisely because it devours small birds and eggs. It can grow up to almost two meters in length and, although it shows aggressive with humans who get too close to it, it is not a poisonous snake and is virtually harmless. It is usually seen within humanized environments, like it was this specimen, which I found around the hut I occupied for some days near Arenal volcano, in Costa Rica.
